Our Facility

A Sense of History. A Place of Comfort.

A truly historic building, our landmark chapel was built in the 1860s by Captain George H. Richards, an early Buchanan industrialist and pioneer. He ran the steamboat "Mary Graham," and also owned and operated the Zinc Collar and Pad Plant which manufactured horse collars. Over the years, we have expanded and modernized the building, while carefully preserving its historic nature. For example, when garage space was added in 1946, we matched the exterior Chicago Common brickwork with bricks salvaged from the local livery stable.

Today, our chapel is a haven of peace and refuge for families experiencing a loss. All colors, textures, and furnishings are specially selected for comfort and quiet elegance. Please visit for your personal inspection of this unique and beautiful facility
